There's no denying the similarities between the sandbox style experience Islands, and the extremely popular non-Roblox game Minecraft, including the ability to grow and farm various crops. Thanks to the Sushi Update released on Nov. 13, 2021, two new crops have been added to Islands to continue developing its wide variety of seeds, and create four new worldly recipes. In the quick guide below we'll be going over how you can find, and plant, seaweed seeds of your own.
Collecting seaweed seeds
Unlike the rice seed added with this update, seaweed seeds cannot be purchased with coins from farmer Cletus. Instead, you'll have to find seaweed seeds by fishing in the pond located in the experience's main hub, or in the various bodies of water littered across other islands. In order to fish, you'll first need to craft the fishing pole at your workbench with 10 wood.
Once you've crafted your fishing pole, head to any body of water and cast your line. It's recommended to fish in the main hub's pond as it's the easiest to locate. Each time that you catch a fish you have a 0.5% chance of pulling up a seaweed seed along with it, so don't be discouraged if it takes a while to gather a handful!

Planting seaweed
Once you've collected your desired amount of seeds, it's time to head back to your island and plant them. Like rice seeds, seaweed seeds can only be planted within Pond Planters. To craft a Pond Planter, you will need a tier four workbench.
Players can find the recipe for crafting a Pond Planter in the list below:
- 40 Stone
- Requires at least a tier two workbench
- 10 Grass
- Requires at least a tier three workbench
- 1 Water Bucket
- Requires a tier four workbench
After crafting your Pond Planter, place it anywhere on your island and select the seaweed seeds from your inventory to begin planting.
Growing seaweed
After a bit of time, you should notice your Pond Planter begin to sprout seaweed plants. Seaweed can be harvested the same way any other plant can be, by hovering your cursor over the planter and pressing F. Once harvested, seaweed can be sold to Tom in the hub for coins or combined with rice to make sushi rolls.
