How to level Refining skills in New World

Before you can craft in New World, you have to refine materials. Refining raw materials gives you the essential crafting components for all your essential crafting, so becoming a high-level refiner should be at the top of your priority list.

Luckily it’s incredibly easy to level up your refining level;—all you have to do is start doing it!

The fastest way to level a refining skill is to gather many raw materials and start crafting. Pick something like Stone, which can be cut into Stone Blocks, or any type of Wood that turns into Lumber.

One advantage of refining materials is that usually (but not always), they’ll weigh less than their composite components. This means that leveling up a refining skill can be an easy way to clear some inventory space!

You can do some low-level refining tasks at campfires, but for the best leveling experience, you’ll have to head to a refining station of some kind. Below is a list of the different refining stations and which refining skills they use. Some are pretty self-explanatory!

  • Smelter - Smelting
  • Stonecutting table - Stonecutting
  • Tannery Station - Tanning
  • Loom - Weaving
  • Woodshop - Woodworking

Using refining stations in settlements will cost you a small amount of tax. But once you’ve started refining, you’ll have enough materials to either sell to crafters or use to craft your own items. Then, simply sell the items on the Trading Post, and you’ll be earning back all your refining costs ASAP.
