MLB: The Show 22 Road to the Show mode lets you create your own player and progress from Double-A ball to the Major League. Your player starts at 45 OVR rating when first starting your journey in Road to the Show, so it can be a long process to get your rating up. So, how can you raise your overall fast in Road to the Show?
To raise your overall fast, you must perform well in games, equip items, and choose helpful workouts on training days. Your overall rating is based on many individual stats in the pitching, fielding, and batting categories. Depending on what position you play, raising certain individual stats will boost your rating quickly.

Pitching
If you are a pitcher or a 2-way player, raising your pitching stats is fairly easy with the right strategy and understanding of how to increase attributes. A pitcher's rating is determined by their pitching attributes and individual pitch attributes. Here are the pitching attributes and how to increase them.
- H/9 (Hits Allowed per Game) — Increase by making batters have bad contact when they hit.
- K/9 (Strikeouts per Game) — Increase by getting strikeouts.
- BB/9 (Walks Allowed per Game) — Increase by having short at-bats and not allowing walks. Throwing strikes and forcing bad contact early in at-bats is the best way to increase BB/9.
- HR/9 (Home Runs per Game) — Increase by forcing bad contact on power hits and not allowing deep hits. HR/9 is a difficult attribute to control because many times, hits affect it negatively and sometimes bad contact does not affect it positively.
- PCLT (Pitching Clutch) — Increase by getting outs in important moments like runners in scoring positions or late inning at-bats.
Pitching attributes can increase pretty quickly if you are a starting pitcher and by setting the gameplay to a lower difficulty. Difficulty does not affect how much XP is earned and pitching difficulty can be customized, so it is not a bad idea to start at a lower difficulty to get your rating up.
Fielding
Fielding is the most simple area to increase attributes but can be the most troublesome. Depending on what fielding position you play, you may not get many opportunities to increase attributes during the game. Fielding attributes that can be increased during games include Reaction, Fielding, Arm Accuracy, and Arm Strength. All of these can be increased during pretty much every fielding opportunity.
To increase Reaction, make sure to quickly point the left stick towards the ball path, then if there are runners, increase your accuracy by throwing to a base accurately. Missing catches, missing base throws, and not reacting to hits can all decrease the attributes pretty fast too though so watch out.
Batting
Increasing batting attributes is fairly straightforward, but there are a few ways to increase your attributes very quickly. The main attributes for batting are Power, Contact, Vision, and Discipline. To increase power, either make good contact with normal swings or use the power swing. To increase contact, make sure to use the contact swing. Vision and Discipline are attributes that are raised by refraining from swinging at pitches outside the zone. Discipline will increase if you are walked or if you don't swing in certain situations like 0-3 counts.
During training days, do workouts for attributes that you do not normally increase during games or have a hard time with. The workouts with mini-games reward the most XP, so try to do as many of those as possible. On top of increasing attributes with workouts and gameplay, you can also equip earned items to your ballplayer that will increase attributes with your loadout.
